ABOUT THE PEOPLE-POWERED AGENDA
Meet the Candidate
Kamita Gray
COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY
We must restore COMMUNITY-DRIVEN LEADERSHIP. Commitment to the community that PAC's and developer contributions will not guide this campaign. Your next At-Large County Council representative a community-owned and operated to bring the kind of change we need in our leadership and change that I will deliver. I am completely fed up with politics-as-usual and the establishment(s) career politicians coordination to keep their "status quo", with their "peer" endorsements for those who do not represent for the betterment of the people or one's community for whom they are elected to represent who are more interested in fear mongering, or persuasion or divisive attack politics rather than being accountable getting to their record in getting things done for the people. The people deserve more than reality show and social media politics.
Once in office they get lost, or as we were told at the hearing for CR-22-2024 (ref: CB-15, CR-25-2024, CB-73-2023); "You people come up in here misguided". This is the reason I am running being fed up and the years of dismay from residents not being heard and again unfortunately, it did not turn out well the current Council voted 6-5 (Fisher, Ivey, Watson, Harrison, Franklin, and Hawkins) in favor of extending the old zoning code. They also introduced another resolution CR-25-2024 that had not even been released to the public prior and passed that too. It too, provided for an extension of the subdivision ordinance. But community has to stay vigilant since the Council seems to be busy at work weaken the new zoning code too, and possibly providing additional extensions on the old zoning use tables. Heighten awareness to understand the harms associated and how this "all" relates to "Jim Crow", fair and equitable zoning policies that should support affordable housing and address the lack of "adequate public facilities", that are an integral part of sustainable community development which should be considered a civil rights issue.
LEADING THE CHANGE
Marking many new paths having meaningful outcomes as a TRAILBLAZER, I create it, one's co-opt it, in following my lead. I have been committed to leading the change for community needs for over two decades solidified as my record authenticates. With a focus on community-driven leadership, I aim to bring about the necessary transformation. This is a great opportunity to share my vision and the services we aim to provide. Our community team has a unique proven approach which sets me apart from others in the political advocacy landscape for my place-based work spans over a decade.
GET TO KNOW ME
I am not a career politician. I am not part of the fragmented Machine's colonization mind-set, rather of the reformers. I will honored to earn your vote. My record shows decades of public policy and meaningful participatory involvement "community engagement", having meaningful outcomes on issues, that I have along with community navigated and advocated effectively for the betterment thereof community. Elections should be decided on your key values, and the issues, not along voter grouping of localisms control.
EARNING YOUR VOTE
I will answer to the, people, a campaign, being the "people's agenda 1st" for which I started in 2018. One’s energy should be put into the best person you believe will do the job for you and the betterment thereof your community according to your values and what most impacts your daily lives, not my personal choices or that I choose to be a registered republican (The state of MD has invalidated independent voters, forcing them to choose a political party or “unaffiliated” on their voter registration) based on my personal values and choices. A person should win your vote not solely by signing along party lines rather who is speaking to the issues that are affecting your life and who best would represent those issues, more so, holding one accountable, as I am not part of the Counties political and profound establishments which exist.
